Snow 2011 & MCP 5/52

from the first "snow" day of the week - Tues, Feb 1

today, Fri Feb 4

Tuesday, our offices were closed and I was home from work due to icy conditions. Wednesday, our offices opened at 10 am, but I worked from home because I just wasn't sure about the driving conditions. Yesterday, went into the office at 10 am and worked a regular day from there on. The highways were good, but side streets, parking lots, etc were still a sheet of ice.  And overnight last night? I'd estimate 4+ inches of the good, fluffy snow at my house.

About 11:00 this morning I decided it was time to brave the snow:

made a snow angel .....

......gathered snow to make snow ice cream and took a bunch of photos.  One of these photos (not sure yet which one) will be my submission for MCP 5/52.  The theme this week was "Muse" - however, I'm going off-book because I couldn't come up with anything I wanted to shoot that I really felt fit the theme.

I think I'm going to veg on the couch the rest of the day - either watching shows on my DVR or perhaps I'll watch an Oscar nominated-flick or two OnDemand.  And, of course, try to stay warm!!

2010 Snow

Last week my little corner of the world received record breaking snowfall in a single day. I took pictures of snow at my house over the 24 hour period. Couldn't narrow down the photos, so you get them all!!

I posted the video on YouTube as well if the Blogger video isn't working:

Rain

It is thundering and lightening here tonight.....maybe enough rain will come with it to help ease our dry summer!

Stormy Weather

Almost 4 inches at rain at my house in the last 24 hours.....lots of wind and maybe almost a tornado in my part of the state.

Thankfully, I never lost power (there are still 250,000 people without power) and only had two casualties in my yard.

A tree branch from the neighbor's yard is hanging into mine.....

and the most sad.....my new wind chimes snapped. I think I can fix them though - just some good wood glue should do it....

Mowing

Well, it has been raining quite a bit, so my yard is quite full of weeds. I was going to mow tonight since it is supposed to rain some more this weekend. Alas, I couldn't get my mower to start. Possibly I flooded the engine. I don't know. All I know is that the weeds will continue to grow while I enjoy a nice evening inside.

Rain....and a new toy

It has been cold and rainy here this week.....I'm glad it felt like winter a bit longer, I was already tired of the 80 degree temps in Feb!!  I finally went out to dump my rain gauge this morning.....over 3.5 inches!!!  Yay!  I hope the rain continues through the summer....my first summer in the house I didn't water my yard at all because it rained so much. Last summer was a wakeup call on lawn care because we had almost no rain.

I've also been playing quite a bit the last few days with a new toy.....can you guess what it might be?

Yes, I have jumped on the Apple bandwagon just a little bit more.....and switched service providers as well......and now have a fabulous new iPhone.  I LOVE IT.  I've only had it for 2 days, but already have a ton of apps downloaded, my email and calendar synced and I'm so excited.

Fog

It has been VERY foggy here the past few days.....here is a view from my office window on Tuesday.

and out my window yesterday morning.....can't even see the AA Center at all!!! It was rather creepy driving to work with no visual landmarks!
