Home Again 2

I'm home again. Made it back safe and sound last night about 10:30 pm from an outstanding girls trip to New York City over the weekend. 300+ pictures to sort and identify, plus work to catch up on this week, so look for a detailed post to follow this weekend.

Home Again

Well, I made it home again. The second day of the KPMG conference is always better than the first -- mostly because it is over at 1:30!

I watched the video this morning with a pretty good case of nerves and apprehension. Thankfully, my comments made it to the cutting room floor! No Jenni on the big screen in front of 500+ people! Whew. Dodged that bullet -- probably won't say yes again, if ever asked. It was just too strange.

Now, to unpack, laundry and repack!

A Little Freaked Out ......

I'm a little freaked out right now, so let me recap the craziness of my life for the past couple of weeks, then I'll explain.

Wed-Fri last week -- Austin for a TSCPA conference..... flew down after work on Wednesday, sat and tried hard to stay awake for two LONG days.....earned 18 CPE hours, though, so it was worthwhile.

Fri to Sugar Land to hang out with my friend Wendy and her husband Weldon. They've moved into a great new house....I saw it pre-remodel back at Labor Day and it was great to see now that they've got it all pretty much done. I even helped Wendy pick out their new couch when I was down last time, and they actually bought it!! So cool. We do lots of nothin when I visit -- we sit a chat, shop, eat, maybe movie, and sleep! It was so nice to just chill.

Sunday afternoon I shifted to a hotel near the Galleria -- where I've been attending another conference this week.

This conference is the KPMG Global Energy conference -- a lot of KPMG folks, plus some finance executives from a lot of the major energy companies -- and a few of us that are KPMG clients, but that are most definitely small potatoes in comparison...... The keynote speaker today at lunch was President George HW Bush. He did a GREAT job -- was very entertaining and seemingly quite normal.

KPMG also does this really cool video the morning of the second day (that would be tomorrow) that has clips of various sessions from day one, as well as quick interview clips from attendees. Here comes the freak-out part -- this afternoon, during our cocktail reception after the last session, they were interviewing participants for inclusion in this video. And, since I was a non-KPMG person, they asked me to be interviewed -- and I SAID YES. What was I thinking?!?! I'm anxious and nervous to see how the crop what I said and how it plays in the context of the video tomorrow. Yikes.

So, I should be back home tomorrow evening, then jet off again on Friday night to New York City with two good friends for a long Memorial Day holiday. I can't wait!!!

Another busy weekend

Well, it's been another busy parents came into town to celebrate my bro-in-law Phillip's 29th birthday and to celebrate Mother's Day. They actually came in on Thursday night and the three of them spent Friday enjoying some golf at the Byron Nelson golf tournament. Friday night we had dinner here at my house, then gave Phillip his presents and he immensely enjoyed his Marble Cheesecake that I made for him.

Saturday morning, Phillip and Heather came over for mom's famous biscuits and gravy. Yum. Then Mom & Heather headed off to a birthday party and Daddy, Phillip & I headed back out to the
Byron Nelson. We watched a couple hours sitting in the shade of the grandstand at 16, then left before it got too hot.

We met Mom and Heather at the movie theater to see
Mission Impossible III. It was amazing -- edge of your seat tension and action the whole movie. Loved it. Then we went to Pappadeaux for some really yummy seafood -- Phillip's birthday dinner choice. Watched the Mavericks barely pull out the win in game 3 over the Spurs and that was the day.

Church today, then lunch and Mother's Day presents!! It was a great weekend.

Now, I'm kicked back, relaxing, enjoying the finale of Survivor: Exile Island. Got a busy couple of weeks coming up -- will try to stop in and touch base as I can.

300th Post

Well, I really wanted to tell you something much more exciting on this, my 300th post. Until about 2:00 the most exciting thing of the day was that I had a really yummy hamburger for lunch.

But then, the real excitement of the day happened. I set off the security alarm at my church building this afternoon. I was where I was supposed to be to do our bank reconciliations. BUT, with the recent flood damage in our basement and the subsequent moving of offices and equipment, the security system in our building was on earlier than I expected it to be. And so, I set it off. The thing is, I didn't even know that it was going off for the first, oh, 20-30 minutes that I was there! I had closed the office doors behind me and it was only after I ran upstairs to get a file that I realized it was beeping. Yikes! Got it shut off, thankfully, after a frantic phone call. And I've learned all the codes - including the magic password when the security company calls. I need to rest from all that excitement!

I know I've been kinda quiet lately out here in blogworld....posting lots of nonsensical quizzes and such, rather than anything of substance. Things at work have still been pretty crazy busy, so my free time has been in short supply. Plus I've just got a lot on my mind that can't really be shared know, creamed corn and all.

Just know that I'm still here, trying to stay caught up on reading about you and living vicariously.....
