Weekend Recap

I promised you a weekend recap -- Saturday I slept until about 10, then just kinda did random stuff around my apartment. I ran a couple of errands -- the most important of which was the grocery store run.

Yesterday at church we had a potluck to welcome our new children/family minister and his family. It was also the big day that our elders officially kicked off the capital campaign for a major addition to our building. Some of us speculated that they planned the two events to coincide to really convince everyone that we need more space! We couldn't seat everyone who wanted to stay for lunch, and I know there were lots of people who didn't stay. A large fellowship hall (with a good size modern kitchen!) will be a definite blessing.

So, my grocery run on Saturday was to get stuff for the cake I took for the potluck, plus to prepare for Dinner Club, which was at my place again tonight. Yes, I did host just a month ago, but that was at the end of the rotation and I decided I needed to get in the beginning of this rotation, so that buying a house and moving this summer won't get in the way!

Yet again, it was a very successful dinner club -- here's what was on the menu:

Cracker Crumb Chicken Cordon Bleu
Strawberry Pretzel Salad
Sauteed Broccoli
Homemade Rolls
Apple Cobbler

Thanks, Mom, for teaching me how to cook. It is definitely recognized and appreciated by my friends!!

Off to bed

Just a quick note tonight, cause I'm so tired my brain isn't really functioning (and neither are my fingers -- I'm having the hardest time typing!!).

I've been posting lots of little quiz results because I've still been really busy at work and haven't had much else to say. This week was our board meeting week so it made for lots of long days -- so I wasn't real sure about going to church tonight for Craft & Hobby night (our once a month night to drag out all the scrapbooking/crafting stuff and hang out from 6 pm - midnight). BUT I had told Jenny & Kelly that I would be there -- and then today I found out that my friend Heather was planning to come. And I'm so glad that I went! I hadn't seen those girls in a while - I was really missing them -- and I got to hear Heather's fun news that she's pregnant with baby #2!! Henry will be 2 in August, and she's due sometime around the end of November. Yay hooray! So excited for Heather & Chad.

But now, I'm really, really tired. So off to bed. I'll fill you in on the weekend at the end....

You are most like Peter Pevensie, once High King of Narnia. As Peter, you are brave, loyal yet intelligent, and are greatly respected for upholding what you think is right.

Go here to see for yourself which Narnia character you are....

It is just such a great thing to have friends.....

Sunday afternoon I spent with my two really good friends, Kelly & Rhonda. It was such a fun time of Kelly & I helping Rhonda get a handle on the clutter and CHAOS that was in her house and taking all the joy out of her life. We gave her some babysteps and some tools to help her FLY. (Those of you familiar with FlyLady know exactly what I'm talking about.) I talked with Rhonda today and she is soooo on Cloud 9 -- she keeps saying that we completely changed her life. I don't know about that so much, but we did love on her and help her to see that the clutter didn't have to rule her life if she didn't let it!!

Monday night was my weekly dinner club with friends from church. Brad pulled off a pseudo-Passover meal. It was pretty cool.

Tuesday night is my weekly dinner with Martha, her daughters Jill & Jennifer and niece Lana, and me, her "adopted" daughter. Friends -- yes. Family -- definitely!!

Today, I had lunch with my friend (since 5th grade) Jon. We ran into each other at a birthday party a few weeks ago and he initiated a lunch to chat and catch up. He is working towards medical school and looking forward to his wedding in August. Kinda hard to believe that we've known each other for about 20 years!!

Then tonight, I met my friend Jan for dinner. We worked closely together on the New Friends Home Tour the past two years and I just love her to pieces. We hadn't seen each other since New Year's Day.....and that was FAR too long. Definitely need to start planning our next dinner outing.

Now, I'm home. Brought some work home, but left it in the car accidentally (or was it?) and just don't feel like trekking back down stairs and across the parking lot. So, I'm gonna put on my pj's and watch TV, then go to bed.

Ta ta for now (TTFN!!)......

Random Saturday Project

Ok.....this will give a glimpse to all of you of just how must of a hopeless organization freak I am.....

For the better part of two hours today, I reorganized my CD collection - alphabetizing and creating a cross reference spreadsheet. It's something I've been needing to do for quite a while -- the old system of alpha by genre organization wasn't working anymore. So, I have a strictly alphabetic system now.

Go ahead.....laugh. It's ok.

Lego Church

My granddaddy sent an email with these photos this week -- this is truly amazing! (and, no, he didn't build this! just forwarded on an email....)

A few quick facts:
How long to build it? It was about a year and a half of planning, building and photographing.
How many pieces of LEGO to build it? more than 75,000
How big is it? About 7 feet by 5 1/2 feet by 30 inches (2.2 m x 1.7 m x .76 m)
How many LEGO people does it seat? 1,372
How many windows? 3,976

It features a balcony, a Narthex, stairs to the balcony, restrooms, coat rooms, several mosaics a nave, a baptistry, an altar, a crucifix, a pulpit and an elaborate pipe organ.

Catching Up

It was another busy week, but not quite as hectic, crazy busy as in the not-so-distant past. Here's a recap:

Monday evening - I took my friend Martha to a Dallas Stars hockey game -- it was her first live game! So fun. It was a pretty good game, although they did lose with about 20 seconds of overtime left - there would have been a shootout if it had still been tied at the end of overtime.

Tuesday evening - I was supposed to have dinner with my friend Jan, but she bailed on me at the last minute - so, it was a typical Tuesday Casita night!

Wednesday - I wasn't feeling well when I woke up - you ever have one of those days when you just don't feel right when you wake up? Nothing particular was wrong, but it just wasn't right. So, I called in and went back to sleep! Spent most of the day in bed - sleeping off and on and watching TV. Felt much better at the end of that day!

Thursday - received some exciting news when I got back to work -- promotion, raise and bonus confirmation! New title, new salary and part of a down payment for my house. Have I told you how blessed I am to work where I do?

Friday - just an all around productive day.....I love those!

11 hours of sleep later -- here I am on a Saturday with no plans. Gonna do some laundry, work on a few little projects around here -- stay in my comfy clothes and just chill. Tomorrow's gonna be a busy day, so I need to rest up!

Afternoon in the Park

Today was our church annual Easter picnic and egg hunt. After morning services, we all brought our picnic lunches to a park near the church. Families and friends camped out on blankets, picnic tables, and camping chairs eating lunch and enjoying fellowship.

After lunch was over, the egg hunt was on. Now, it really wasn't an egg hunt, per se. It was more like an egg gather. The eggs were "hidden" on the baseball field at the park. For kids under 2, their focus was on the infield -- all other kids got to pick up eggs from the outfield.

Our new children's minister did a great job planning a couple other events......there was a hula hoop contest for the dads, then an egg toss (with real, uncooked eggs!! what a mess). It was so fun to hang out with my church family and enjoy a beautiful April afternoon. The wind was just enough to provide a breeze when the sun was too hot. It was about 85 degrees -- which is actually just on the border of being too hot for me. Sometimes I do wonder why I live in Texas, since I HATE the summer heat.

Now, I'm off to read up on Germany in preparation for our "family meeting" tonight to sketch out the agenda for our vacation this summer.

Spring Forward

Don't forget to "spring forward" one hour tonight before you go to bed!!!

I'm off to dinner soon for my friend Laura. She's turning 24. She is quite a mature 24, so I often forget that she is so much younger. Plus she is dating Brad, who is 6 months older than me! Dinner at a new-to-me restaurant and game night.....should be fun!!
