Nascar

Ok, I still don't really get it. Maybe I never will.....but I do have a different appreciation for Nascar now. I watched parts of an E! True Hollywood Story on the sport tonight - I have no idea of its accuracy - but it seemed to give the perspectives and thoughts of a wide range of people involved. And it was very interesting. Still don't think I could sit and watch an entire race - but maybe if I was watching with a true fan that could explain things to me along the way?

You will have to come on over and enjoy a race with me and TL. We will surely convert you!

How 'bout that #8!!

I have two phiosophies on this matter...

1. You have to attend a race in order to truly appreciate the uniqueness of the sport.

2. Like any odd tasting beverage, you must drink 3 in order to change your tast buds (i.e. switching from leaded to unleaded, virgin to spiked, etc.). As is w/ watching on tv, you must sit through a majority of three races w/ other fans to explain and decipher the language of the commentators in order to be a fan w/ out having to spend a lot of cabbage on the actual event.

Or you can take my husbands approach and just watch the Sunday night sports show on the news and then smile and nod whan others talk about the juicy details that they saw live and he only saw on re-play.

That, my dear, ends the babbling section for today.

P.S. Thinking of going to ZOE if others do too ~ and I can juggle the baby's routine around the entire weekend. Don't know for sure yet though.

I grew up with NASCAR so I thought everybody's family watched races on Sunday afternoon! Honestly, some people don't enjoy it and I guess that's ok but, I'll STAND for 3 hours in the hot stands if my Bobby is leading! That show was very interesting. I love the old guys!

I loved the old guys too, TL. Several of the young guys were just downright arrogant and cocky to me. Of course, that seems to be true no matter the sport!

My philosophy is that you have to DATE a proffesional or semi-proffesional race car driver to appreciate this sport (well, at least that's how it worked for me...)
